Your Core Role: What Food Safety Auditors Do at Food Alert
As a Food Safety Auditor and Health & Safety Consultant at Food Alert, you’ll operate as a trusted expert advisor to some of the UK hospitality industry’s most exciting brands. Key Responsibilities
Food Safety Inspections and Auditing: Conduct comprehensive food safety and health & safety inspections at client premises across Manchester and surrounding areas, producing detailed compliance reports with practical, actionable recommendations following every visit.
Risk Assessment Delivery: Complete thorough risk assessments covering occupational hazards, manual handling procedures, and PPE requirements — particularly within demanding hospitality environments where risks are complex and varied.
Digital Platform Implementation: Support new client onboarding including implementation of Food Alert’s innovative ALERT65 digital compliance platform, ensuring clients maximise the system’s compliance management capabilities.
Client Consultancy and Training: Provide tailored expert advice, specialist consultancy, and practical training across diverse operational environments — from boutique restaurants to large hotel groups with spa and swimming pool facilities.
Account Management: Act as dedicated Account Manager for individual and small group hospitality operators, building long-term trusted relationships and serving as their primary food safety contact.
Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations into serious allegations including food poisoning complaints, allergen incidents, and foreign body contamination cases — requiring sharp analytical skills and meticulous documentation.
Advice Line Participation: Join the rotating expert Advice Line rota, providing reactive guidance to clients facing urgent compliance questions and managing active investigations requiring immediate professional input.

Ideal Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Solid background in food safety and health & safety auditing — ideally within hospitality environments
- Minimum Level 4 Food Safety qualification is non-negotiable
- BSc Environmental Health or equivalent industry experience highly desirable
- Experience auditing high-risk operations (hotels with spa/swimming pool facilities is a distinct advantage)
