About the Role: Medical Lab Microbiologist

Key Responsibilities
- Perform culture, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing on clinical specimens
- Conduct bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and virology testing in line with laboratory protocols

- Support infection prevention and control teams with microbiological surveillance data
- Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and stock levels per accreditation standards
- Follow biosafety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance procedures at all times
- Document and report results accurately within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and infection control specialists on diagnostic decisions
- Participate in continuous professional development and laboratory accreditation audits (CAP/ISO 15189)
Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or a related field (required)
- Master’s degree in Microbiology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences (preferred)
Licensing
- DHA, MOH, or DOH license (eligibility or existing license strongly preferred)
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory
- Experience with automated culture and identification systems (e.g., VITEK, BACTEC)
- Familiarity with molecular diagnostic techniques (PCR) is an advantage
- Experience in accredited laboratories (CAP, ISO 15189) preferred
